Victor Wembanyama added a piece of NBA history to his rookie season on Wednesday as the San Antonio Spurs star notched an impressive career first.

With a shining all-around night against the Detroit Pistons, Wembanyama astounded NBA fans once again in the Spurs’s 130-108 road win en route to becoming the youngest center in NBA history to record a triple-double, and the youngest player in Spurs franchise history to accomplish the feat.

While the French phenom already has exceptional blocking prowess, Wembanyama’s historic outing instead saw the 7-foot-4 big man achieve the feat with points, rebounds and assists. To make the feat even more impressive, Wemby reached the mark in just 21 minutes on the night, setting the second-fastest mark to a triple-double in terms of total game time.

Against Detroit, Wembanyama clinched history with a well-timed pass to forward Doug McDermott for a three-pointer in the fourth quarter, giving him a final stat line of 16 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists.

After facing months of hype, Wembanyama, in spite of a down year for the young Spurs (5–30), has shown flashes of his tantalizing skill set in his debut NBA season, averaging 19.3 PPG, 10.1 RPG and a league-leading 3.3 BPG.

As Wembanyama continues to improve, standout performances such as Wednesday night’s will only add to the lore already surrounding the 20-year-old, who is now the fifth youngest player ever to notch a triple-double.
