Sophie Wilde gives a disappointing update about her return in the highly anticipated Talk To Me 2. Directed by Australian brothers Danny and Michael Philippou, Wilde led the first Talk to Me cast as Mia, a teenager grieving the death of her mother who discovers a way to communicate with the dead through an embalmed hand with her friends. Scoring rave reviews from critics and a mammoth $92 million box office haul against its $4.5 million production budget, A24 announced development on a sequel in late 2023.

Speaking to GamesRadar+, Wilde was asked about the possibility of her return for Talk to Me 2. Though offering a disappointing update by stating she isn’t sure if she’ll be back, she did state that she’s very interested in playing a part in the production of the sequel, even humorously offering to work behind the scenes on the movie. Read her full comments below:

I don’t know. I feel like it’s still a bit hush hush because I mean, the boys [filmmakers Danny Philippou and Michael Philippou], they’re such workaholics. I know they’re focusing on a bunch of other projects that they’re doing at the moment. So I don’t know, it’s all up in the air. But I said to them, I was like, “I’m gonna get actual FOMO if I’m not in this film, so can I just come on set and be like a boom operator? I will be an assistant director, I just want to be involved.

What Else Do We Know About Talk To Me 2

Following its release in 2022, Talk To Me was met with rave reviews that praised the film’s gripping story, the cast’s performance and especially Danny and Michael’s stellar direction. Also considering Talk to Me’s ambiguous ending and the commercial success of the movie, it was only right that fans both suggested and clamored for a sequel to A24’s highest grossing horror movie. After a few months of speculation, A24 confirmed in a social media post that Talk To Me 2 would get a theatrical release, even though no release date was confirmed.

As regards the cast that might feature in Talk To Me 2, there has not been a lot of news regarding who might reprise their role from the original movie and what new faces might appear in the sequel. It is, however, expected that a lot of the original characters might not feature in the sequel, especially Mia, who did not make it to the end of Talk To Me alive. She was, in fact, last seen being part of the spirit world and summoned to another house party with her embalmed hand playing the titular game.

There is also little in the way of news regarding plot details for Talk To Me 2. Danny and Michael Philippou have, however, come out recently to state that they have enough material for a possible trilogy of movies. The duo never explicitly reveal what the materials entail, but there is a strong suggestion that Talk To Me 2 might follow a new set of kids who discover the embalmed hand used in conjuring spirits.
