New Marvel Cinematic Universe fan art imagines Henry Cavill as an unexpected X-Men character, following his run as Superman in the DCEU. With James Gunn’s DC Universe is coming up, Cavill’s time as Superman is over, as David Corenswet is set to play the Man of Steel in the new franchise. Over at Marvel Studios, the MCU is still moving forward with The Multiverse Saga, as they continue to build to the big war against Kang.

One of the biggest overarching Multiverse Saga storylines has been that of unveiling the X-Men in the MCU, following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, which gave Marvel Studios the rights back for the mutants. With Cavill’s time in the DC realm officially completed, Skull101ify shared new fan art of what he could look like as one of the most iconic X-Men characters in the Marvel canon.

In this scenario, Cavill gets pitched as Dr. Hank McCoy, a.k.a. Beast, who was recently featured in The Marvels, played once again by Kelsey Grammer from the original X-Men movies. The only other actor to have played Beast in live-action was Nicholas Hoult in the X-Men prequel films, who is now set to play Lex Luthor in Superman: Legacy.

Henry Cavill’s performance as Superman has had a profound effect on the actor’s life both on-screen, and also behind the scenes of the DCEU movies.

Will Henry Cavill Ever Join The MCU?

With Cavill demonstrating a love for superheroes during his time as Superman, many have been wondering if the MCU may be a future destination for him down the line. As Cavill’s career has only grown over the years since he took on the role of Clark Kent, having him join the MCU would be a major victory for Marvel Studios. Even though X-Men’s Beast may not be who fans are imagining him to be in the MCU, Cavill has been a popular casting choice for Sentry, which is now being recast for the Thunderbolts movie following Steven Yeun’s exit.

Despite how huge it would be for the MCU to get Cavill attached to any Marvel role, it seems unlikely, at least in the coming years. Cavill is already booked up with several projects in the coming years, including the upcoming Warhammer 40,000 TV show for Amazon Studios. Not only will Cavill star in the Warhammer 40,000-based drama, but he will be serving as an executive producer, with the hopes of this being the start of a new cinematic universe, which would likely prevent him from joining the MCU anytime soon, especially for something as huge as the X-Men.

Marvel Studios reportedly started meeting with screenwriters in late 2023 for the new X-Men movie.

As much fun as it would be to see Cavill in the MCU, it might also make sense if he doesn’t necessarily want to return to the superhero genre, as he has been focusing on other genres for the last couple of years. At the very least, Cavill could do a one-off for Marvel Studios without committing to a multi-picture deal, similar to many other MCU actors. Hopefully, as 2024 goes forward, Marvel Studios will have more updates on their X-Men movie plans.
