- Despite Tom’s diminished role, there is hope that he can positively promote the restaurant in the future as his reputation improves.
Vanderpump Rules season 11 has been off to an interesting start, and with Tom Sandoval having taken time away from Los Angeles after the scandal, Tom Schwartz was left with a shocking decision about their joint business venture, Schwartz & Sandy’s. While Tom was filming Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test season 2 after the fallout from Scandoval rocked his friend group, his business partner was left to clean up the catastrophic mess he’d left behind. Though the majority of the issues to come from Scandoval were related to Tom, Schwartz & Sandy’s took a hit with the co-owners likeness pushing guests away from the restaurant rather than bringing them in.
While the series had filmed at the restaurant in the past, it was simply too much during Vanderpump Rules season 11. According to The U.S. Sun, “Production was banned from filming at Schwartz & Sandy’s for season 11 because there was so much toxicity that was aimed at the restaurant.” A source told the publication that “the abundant amount of toxicity aimed at the restaurant led to many issues with staff, whether it was working there for the wrong reasons, like, trying to get camera attention or added pressure they received while trying to serve the guests.”

Tom Sandoval “Pushed Out” Of Schwartz & Sandy’s
Though Tom took some time away from his life in Los Angeles, according to The U.S. Sun, he felt “pushed out” of the restaurant which changed his and Tom’s lives entirely. Part owner of the restaurant, Greg Morris, advised Tom to stay away from Schwartz & Sandy’s in order to preserve the brand, and as “Schwartz has been picking up the pieces and has been very hands-on because he did not want to see all their hard work suffer and did not want to let Greg down”, Tom Sandoval was hurt by the decision. According to Schwartz, Tom “sort of taking a step back. He’s been mostly a silent partner.”
Although Tom’s time on Vanderpump Rules season 11 is only getting started, his responsibilities at Schwartz & Sandy’s have taken a major back seat in the last year since the drama in his personal life has become so overwhelming. Though it made sense for Tom to take time away from the business with such a public-facing role, the fact that he hasn’t even been working behind the scenes is confusing. Though he claims to feel pushed out, Tom not taking an active role in trying to fix the image of the restaurant when he tarnished it in the first place was a misstep, and should be rectified in some way.
With Tom’s role at Schwartz & Sandy’s diminished, he’s still hopeful he can promote the restaurant positively. While the business partners were working alongside Schwartz to keep the restaurant afloat during the rough patch of 2023, things have been going better when it comes to Schwartz & Sandy’s, even without Tom present. Though he may be taking a step back for now, it’s possible the Vanderpump Rules star could move into a bigger capacity in the restaurant as his reputation and public perception improves.
