Person dies on Avanti West Coast train from London to Liverpool as passengers disembark | UK | News

Avanti West Coast passengers were forced to disembark from a train after a passenger died on a service from London to Liverpool. Emergency services rushed to the scene in Watford – where passengers were asked to depart the train – shortly after 3pm this afternoon.

The affected train was the 2.43pm service from London Euston to Liverpool Lime Street after reports of a casualty onboard. Eyewitnesses reported that an air ambulance was scrambled to the scene, while a large number of police vehicles were also spotted in the area.

A spokesperson for the British Tranport Police said: “Officers were called to Watford Junction station at 3.02pm following reports of a casualty onboard a train. Paramedics also attended however sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

The person’s gender and age has not yet been revealed by the emergency services. A passenger from Liverpool, who asked to remain anonymous, told the Liverpool Echo that passengers were ordered to leave the train due to a “medical emergency”.
