Nightwing Can’t Jump and It’s Putting Him in Danger
Fans all know that Nightwing has been jumping from heights since he was the youngest member of the Flying Graysons in Haly’s Circus. But something very strange happened on one of Dick’s most recent adventures. While briefly teaming up with his ex, Beatrice Bennett and her pirate crew, Nightwing was struck with a fear that prevented him from jumping in to save a drowning crew member. The panic Dick was dealing with returned when Beatrice was in danger and he managed to overcome it to defeat Beatrice’s brother in combat. But Nightwing noticed the fear wasn’t gone, just tempered down.
While Nightwing was able to push his fears to the side during his pirate escapade and seemingly suppressed during “Beast World”, his reluctance to jump is coming back with a vengeance. Nightwing is known for his amazing acrobatic skills, so being unable to jump is pretty much the worst thing that could happen to him. If Dick can’t jump, it’s going to be a lot harder for him to protect Blüdhaven, much less the world alongside the Titans. Whatever Dick’s going through, getting to the root cause of his anxiety is the only way Nightwing’s going to get better.
Nightwing Needs to Explore the Fear Holding Him Back – Or Else
Fear is a normal and understandable thing, especially for superheroes. But if Nightwing can’t stop these sudden grips of fear that prevent him from jumping, then he could get someone or even himself killed in the field. Thankfully, Dick is going to have Batman by his side, and if there’s anyone who can help Nightwing dig deep into his subconscious to root out this fear, it’s the Dark Knight. But if he doesn’t, then Nightwing may never be able to take a leap ever again.
