Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes star Owen Teague praises future ideas for the franchise from director Wes Ball, highlighting how well he can pitch a strong story. The upcoming film takes place 300 years after War for the Planet of the Apes, following an ape named Noa (Teague) on a new adventure. While not much is known about the story, it will focus on apes hunting humans as a new leader among them rises.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Teague praised Ball for his future ideas for the franchise after the upcoming Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. The actor didn’t specify what new ideas were being brought up, but did reveal the director has ideas for future installments. Check out what Teague had to say below:
A, I don’t want to jinx anything and, B, [director] Wes [Ball] is a genius and I would do a disservice to his ideas by trying to pitch them,” he says. “Watching Wes pitch an idea is maybe the most magical thing I’ve ever experienced. He’s such a good storyteller.
Will There Be More Planet Of The Apes Movies?
War for the Planet of the Apes ended Caesar’s story, setting the stage for a world where apes are the dominant species. This new version of Earth is set to be explored in the latest installment, as Noa teams up with an intelligent feral human, Nova (Freya Allan). Their journey will take them head-to-head with Proximus Caesar (Kevin Durand), a tyrannical ape seeking out human technology.
It was reported in 2022 that the newest installment could be the start of a follow-up trilogy. Since the new movie shows apes still developing their world, it seems very far away from the events of 1968’s Planet of the Apes. However, with Ball pitching ideas for more stories in the rebooted universe, it’s possible the timeline will be fleshed out in future films. This could even lead to a remake of the original, bringing the series full circle by the end.
The Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes trailer reveals how the new hero and villain’s clash will decide the fate of apes and their evolution going forward. With Proximus searching for human technology they can utilize, it’s possible this version of the series will feature more complex technological advancements for the apes. However, with plenty still left for the movie to reveal, it will be some time before the direction of the franchise moving forward comes to fruition.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
