Angry Erling Haaland pushes camera away after wasteful Man City display in Chelsea draw | Football | Sport

Erling Haaland furiously pushed Sky Sports’ camera away after missing three huge chances for Manchester City as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Chelsea. The striker was in no mood to have a camera thrust into his face after City dropped two points in their Premier League title race with Liverpool and Arsenal.

Haaland has struggled for form since returning from a foot injury five matches ago. His brace against Everton last weekend were his only goals in that period.

The 23-year-old should have scored a hat-trick against Chelsea. He somehow headed two golden chances over the crossbar either side of half-time.

Another opportunity saw Haaland fire straight at Djordje Petrovic after getting the better of Axel Disasi inside the penalty area. Haaland was clearly unwilling to be the centre of attention at full-time.

Sky Sports’ camera operator tried to get a close-up of Haaland standing on the pitch after the final whistle. The forward looked frustrated by his performance, staring into space as the camera panned around him.

Haaland initially allowed the camera to move around him for several seconds, but he then clearly wanted no more as he pushed it away. It was evidence of a player who felt he should have won the game for his side with at least one of his trio of scoring chances.

Pep Guardiola’s side were dominant against Chelsea but were held to a stalemate by the west Londoners for the second time this season. Their former player Raheem Sterling gave the visitors the lead at the Etihad Stadium.

Sterling turned inside Manuel Akanji and finished clinically beyond Ederson. Chelsea had opportunities to score a second, with Nicolas Jackson going close on more than one occasion. Enzo Fernandez then took the ball away from the striker’s grasp before firing over.

Haaland’s missed chances did not lead to a dismal defeat, even if it might have seemed like City were moving towards a loss when the former Borussia Dortmund star headed over the final opportunity on 79 minutes.

Instead, it was Rodri who provided the crucial moment for City. Much like he did to score the winning goal in last season’s Champions League final, the midfielder raced onto a loose ball to hammer home via a deflection off Trevoh Chalobah.

Liverpool and Arsenal both won earlier on Saturday, with City falling under the pressure of having to match the results of their rivals. The Reds remain top of the Premier League with 57 points, while Arsenal are on 55. City now sit on 53 and need a major improvement if they are to retain their crown.
